Floating valve tray/plate

Floating valve tray/plate is the main component of the plate tower. The floating valve tower is a new tower type developed in the 1950s. Its characteristic is that on the basis of the sieve plate tower, a valve plate that can move up and down is installed in each sieve hole. When the air velocity of the sieve hole is high, the valve plate is lifted up, and when the air velocity is low, the valve plate falls due to its own weight. The lifting position of the valve plate is automatically adjusted with the gas flow rate, so that the gas velocity entering the night layer is basically stable. Because the gas enters the liquid layer horizontally on the lower side of the valve plate, it not only reduces the amount of liquid foam entrainment, but also prolongs the gas-liquid contact time, so a good mass transfer effect is achieved. In order to make the two fluids in close contact and exchange mass between the two phases, the purpose of separating the components of the liquid mixture or gas mixture is achieved. It is generally a circular plate with many holes, and parts that promote close contact between the two fluids are often set. There are various structures, mainly bubble trays, emulsion valve trays, sieve plates, etc.

The floating valve tower is a plate tower used in the gas-liquid mass transfer process. It has the following characteristics:
(1) The valve plate of the floating valve can float and adjust its opening degree as the gas load changes. Therefore, the floating valve tower has great operational flexibility, especially when the load is low, it can still maintain normal operation.
(2) The floating valve tower has good gas-liquid contact and small mist entrainment (because the gas is blown out horizontally), high tower plate efficiency and large production capacity.
(3) The tower structure is simple, the manufacturing cost is low, and it can adapt to common material conditions. It is one of the most widely used tower types in the chemical and refining industries.
(4) When separating stable isotopes, a bubbling contact device is developed based on overcoming the defects of the bubble tower.
(5) There are four types of floating valve towers: movable bubble cap, disc floating valve, heavy disc floating valve and strip floating valve.
There are mainly two types of float valves, V-type and T-type, with the following features: production capacity is about 20% to 40% greater than that of bubble tower; the ratio of the two limit loads of gas is 5 to 6, and the operation flexibility is large; the plate efficiency is 10% to 15% higher than that of bubble tower; less mist entrainment and small liquid surface gradient; the structure is difficult to be between bubble tower and sieve plate tower; the adaptability to materials is good, etc., with large flux and small amplification effect, and it is often used in the heavy water production process of the primary concentration stage

Among the separation tower equipment that exists in large quantities in my country's chemical, petrochemical and refining industries, most of them use tower plates as tower internals. There are mainly two types of tower plates, float valve towers and sieve plate towers. Float valve tower plates occupy the majority of plate towers, mainly because of the large operation flexibility of float valve towers.
