Wire mesh demister
category:Tower Internals

Wire mesh demister is sometimes called wire mesh demister or wire mesh demister. It is a typical product of inertial collision demister. It has the characteristics of high efficiency of demister, simple structure and low resistance. It is mainly used to separate the mist and foam entrained by gas in the tower to ensure the efficiency of mass transfer, reduce the loss of valuable materials and improve the operation of the compressor after the tower. Wire mesh demister is generally set at the top of the tower. If a wire mesh demister is set between the tower plates, it can not only ensure the mass transfer efficiency of the tower plates, but also reduce the distance between the plates. Wire mesh demisters are used in imported ethylene, synthetic ammonia and chemical fiber production equipment. It is particularly widely used in the fields of desulfurization, oil mist removal, removal of toxic industrial gases and odors. The wire mesh demister is mainly composed of a wire mesh block composed of a wire mesh and a wire mesh grid and a supporting device for fixing the wire mesh block. The wire mesh is a gas-liquid filter mesh of various materials, and the gas-liquid filter mesh is composed of metal wire or non-metal wire. The non-metallic wire of the gas-liquid filter is twisted by multiple strands of non-metallic fibers, or it can be a single strand of non-metallic wire. The wire mesh demister can not only filter out larger liquid foam suspended in the air flow, but also filter out smaller and tiny liquid foam. It is widely used in gas-liquid separation devices in chemical, petroleum, tower manufacturing, pressure vessels and other industries.
National standard for wire mesh demister:
HG/T21618-1998 is based on the original Ministry of Industry standards (HG5-1404-81, HG5-1405-81, HG5-1406-81), combined with the actual use experience of wire mesh demisters and the advanced technology introduced in the device. The three standards are combined into one standard, which is only divided into top-loading and bottom-loading types.
Wire mesh demister models and specifications: top-loading, bottom-loading, DG200-DG6400 and various non-standard wire mesh demisters (demisters).
Wire mesh demister uses:
Wire mesh demister (demister) is used to separate droplets entrained by gas in the tower to ensure mass transfer efficiency, reduce valuable material loss and improve the operation of the compressor after the tower. Generally, wire mesh demister is installed on the top of the tower. It can effectively remove droplets of 3--5um. If a demister is installed between the tower plates, it can not only ensure the mass transfer efficiency of the tower plates, but also reduce the plate spacing. Therefore, the wire mesh demister is mainly used for gas-liquid separation. It can also be used as an air filter for gas separation. In addition, the wire mesh can also be used as a buffer for various instruments in the instrument industry to prevent electronic shielding devices such as radio wave interference.
Working principle of wire mesh demister:
When the gas with mist rises through the wire mesh at a certain speed, due to the inertia of the rising mist, the mist collides with the wire mesh filaments and is attached to the surface of the filaments. The diffusion of mist on the surface of the filaments and the gravity sedimentation of mist make the mist form larger droplets that flow along the filaments to the intersection of the two filaments. The wettability of the filaments, the surface tension of the liquid and the capillary action of the filaments make the droplets grow larger and larger until the aggregated droplets are so large that the gravity generated by themselves exceeds the combined force of the gas's rising force and the liquid's surface tension, and the droplets separate and fall from the filaments. After the gas passes through the wire mesh demister, it basically does not contain mist. Separating the mist in the gas can improve operating conditions, optimize process indicators, reduce equipment corrosion, extend equipment life, increase processing capacity and recover valuable materials, protect the environment, and reduce air pollution. The structure is simple and small in size, with high defoaming efficiency, low resistance, light weight, and easy installation, operation, and maintenance. The wire mesh demister has a capture efficiency of 98%-99.8% for mist with a particle size of ≥3~5um, and the pressure drop of the gas through the demister is very small, only 250-500Pa, which is conducive to improving the production efficiency of the equipment.
