Due to the influence of the flanges, the contact between the packing ring gaps during packing stacking changes from linear contact to point contact. In this way, not only the gaps between the packing particles are increased, reducing the resistance of the gas passing through the packing layer, but also these contact points can be the convergence and dispersion points of the liquid flowing along the surface of the packing, thereby promoting the surface renewal of the liquid film and improving the mass transfer efficiency of the packing.

Plastic step ring packing absorbs the characteristics of Raschig rings, and at the same time makes appropriate improvements to ball ring packing. The height-to-diameter ratio of the ring is 1:2, and a conical flange is added at one end to reduce the resistance of the gas passing through the bed layer.
