Plastic ball ring packing is a new type of chemical packing, which is an open-hole ring packing with equal height and diameter. The ball ring has eight layers of rectangular small windows with inward-extending tongues on the wall of ordinary Raschig rings. Each layer of window holes has five tongues. The small window blades overlap in the center of the ring, and the upper and lower layers are staggered. Generally, the open hole area accounts for about 30% of the total area of ​​the ring wall. Since the ball ring packing has many windows on the ring wall, the gas and liquid in the packing tower can pass freely through the windows, so the distribution of gas and liquid in the packing layer is greatly improved compared with the Raschig ring. The inner surface of the packing ring is easily wetted by the liquid. This structure improves the gas-liquid distribution and makes full use of the inner surface of the ring. Therefore, the resistance is reduced and the gas velocity can be increased.

Difference between Ball Ring and Raschig Ring:

The main difference between Ball Ring and Raschig Ring packing is that there are rectangular windows on the side wall, and the window blades of the window are bent into the center of the ring. Due to the opening of the ring wall, the distribution performance of gas and liquid is greatly improved compared with Raschig Ring. Compared with Raschig Ring, Ball Ring has lower resistance, higher gas velocity, and uniform liquid distribution. In particular, the inner surface area of ​​the ring can be fully utilized, and the pressure drop is reduced by half. Ball ring packing of the same material and specification not only has a larger passing capacity and lower pressure drop than Raschig Ring, but also improves the separation efficiency of the tower and increases the operating flexibility. Generally, under the same pressure drop, the processing capacity of Ball Ring is more than 50% higher than that of Raschig Ring; under the same processing capacity, the pressure drop of Ball Ring packing is only half of that of Raschig Ring.
