Plastic structured packing is a packing that is arranged in a uniform geometric pattern in the tower and neatly stacked. Plastic structured packing is the second structured packing developed, and the first one is metal structured packing. The surface of this packing is pressed with special small grooves, and the shape of the corrugated plate is an improved corrugation. Plastic structured packing has small holes on the packing sheet to improve the mass transfer efficiency. If the requirements are not high, the holes can be omitted to improve the rigidity of the plate. It is suitable for processes with large liquid loads and high operating pressures. The performance is equivalent to that of metal perforated plate corrugated packing of the same size.

Plastic structured packing includes honeycomb inclined tubes, straight tubes, plastic plate corrugated packing and plastic wire mesh corrugated packing, etc.:

(1) Honeycomb inclined tube: This product is mainly used for water purification, sand removal and accelerated sedimentation of domestic sewage, oil separation and tailings concentration, and is an excellent water purification filler.

(2) Honeycomb straight tube: This product is mainly used as a microbial carrier in contact oxidation ponds, biofilters and biorotating discs, for biochemical treatment of industrial organic wastewater or urban domestic sewage, and can also be used as filler for chemical towers, cooling tower fillers, etc.

(3) Plastic plate corrugated and wire mesh corrugated fillers: This product is mainly used in gas purification, environmental protection and separation and purification and other industries. It has the advantages of light weight, large capacity, low pressure drop, high specific surface area and easy replacement.


Characteristics of plastic structured fillers:

The corrugated plate is installed vertically and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the container. The direction of the corrugations on the plate is 30°-60° with the length direction of the plate. The corrugations on the same corrugated plate are parallel to each other; the corrugations of two adjacent plates are cross-shaped. When the fluid flows through this part, it moves upward and downward, which helps the agglomeration, floating or sedimentation of the dispersed phase droplets, greatly improving the processing capacity and separation efficiency. In addition, due to the orderly arrangement of the fillers, the solid phase particles contained in the material can be discharged through the corrugated bottom of the filler, so it has good anti-blocking performance and large operational flexibility.

Plastic structured packing has the characteristics of thin wall, light weight, large voids, corrosion resistance, light weight, large flux, long life, low pressure drop, easy to load, easy to replace, high specific surface area, small stacking density, strong resistance to hydrochloric acid and alkali, large operation flexibility, and insignificant amplification effect. It can be used in corrosive systems such as strong acids.


Application of plastic structured packing:

Plastic structured packing can improve production and efficiency and reduce energy consumption. It is suitable for large-volume towers and foaming systems. It is widely used in absorption and analysis processes, low-temperature absorption, water washing, and dust removal devices are most widely used in gas purification, gas solution preparation, waste gas exchange and heat exchange processes, and its maximum temperature resistance is 150°C. Plastic structured packing is strong and resistant to hydrochloric acid and alkali, and can completely replace industrial ceramic corrugated packing. It is a creative revolution in the packing industry. Defects of industrial ceramic corrugated packing: large stacking ratio, difficult loading, small specific surface area, easy to break, short service life, etc.


Material of plastic structured packing:

There are many materials for plastic structured packing, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), reinforced polypropylene (RPP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), which can be selected by the user. The choice of plastic material is based on operating conditions. Polypropylene can withstand 100℃, and PVDF can withstand 150℃.
